Create Your Best Vision Board Yet!

“What you think about, you create.”

One of the main things that I support my clients with, as their Health Coach, is cultivating the lifestyle they desire. Another simple and fun way to keep your life’s vision at the forefront (secondary to having the best Health Coach) is to create a vision board. I hosted an impromptu vision board party with my family this year, and it was a magical experience. I am sharing parts of the creation process with you. I strongly encourage you to do this activity with your loved ones.

What is a vision board and why do people make them?

A vision board is usually a compilation of images and words that represent your dreams, ambitions, goals, and/or aspirations. Creating a vision board can influence your intention to bring about positive change. Some people, like entrepreneurs or athletes, use visuals to train their focus and stay on target. Similarly, a vision board can serve as a road map that helps you to make decisions that align with your goals.

Types of vision boards

You can create a vision board in many different ways. Do you want your vision board to be digital? Do you want something that’s portable? Do you want something you can change up? You can use a blank canvas, piece of cardboard, poster board, cork board, scrapbook or an open wall space to glue or tack your images to. We created digital vision boards using a Canva template.

How to create a vision board.

  1. Tap into the highest version of yourself. The first step to make the most effective vision board is to tap into the highest version and vision of yourself. Get clear about what you desire and that future version of you feels. You should decide what part of your life your vision board will represent, and what period of time it covers. We used the Circle of Life tool to make sure our boards include visuals for each of the main aspects of our life. For mine, I decided to focus on the next 2-3 years.

  2. Gather your images. Once you get clear on your vision for whatever area of your life, start collecting your images. Images can be from magazines, personal photos, online, and/or your own sketches. We searched for images that represent what we want to manifest in each area listed on the Circle of Life (Home Environment, Home Cooking, Physical Activity, Health, Education, Career, Finances, Creativity, Spirituality, Joy, Social Life, Relationships).

  3. Get Creative! The next step is to start placing your images into whatever format you choose. You can supplement your images with quotes or words that inspire you and represent your vision. Think of images and words that bring the emotions you want to manifest. Remember to use vibrant colors, and make sure your vision board represents everything that is YOU. Have fun expressing yourself!

I’ve made my vision board, now what?

You want to make sure you place your vision board somewhere where you can see it often. You can display your vision board anywhere. I saved my vision board as my phone and computer wallpaper. I also printed it to hang in my living space. You can place it above your computer screen, in your office, next to mirrors, on the refrigerator, or any other area in your home or office. Meditating on your vision board images a few minutes every day could be helpful. As your vision becomes reality, make sure you acknowledge your success. This could be as simple as a mark or stamp on your board to give you the satisfaction of completion. You want to celebrate your wins! The more you celebrate your wins, the more wins you experience!

We would love to hear from you!
